John Brown Women's Soccer Thrashes Wayland Baptist in Dominant 5-0 Performance

The John Brown University women's soccer team scored a hat trick by senior Lauren Walter and a goal by senior Rachel Stone just 2:15 into the opening half in a 5-0 victory over Wayland Baptist (Texas) at Alumni Field.

John Brown's other hat trick winner this year, sophomore Aubrey Winter, assisted on three consecutive JBU goals, and freshman Zoe Roberts earned her first collegiate point in the Golden Eagles' fourth straight win.

Stone scored her fourth goal of the year in the third minute, the culmination of a beautiful pass play. Bosma's pass in front of the net went through the Wayland backline, where senior Gifte Pavatt ran through and gained possession of the ball.135 seconds later, Pavatt closed in on the goal and played the ball to Stone on the left side, who sent the ball into an empty net.

In the 30th minute, Walter took a Wendt corner kick and headed it past Dayanara Torres for a hat trick to give John Brown a 2-0 lead.

John Brown outshot the Pioneers 10-2 in the first half and 11-3 in the second. Shortly after halftime, Bosma scored his sixth goal of the season off a pass from Winter on the right wing. Bosma rebounded and fired a shot that went straight to the near side of the goal, joining Winter and Walter as Golden Eagles with more than six goals on the season.

The Walter show then began as John Brown's top scorer scored two straight goals in a span of 1:35 off assists from Winter and Roberts, respectively. The forward now has eight goals on the season.

John Brown finished the night with a 9-0 corner kick advantage and a 21-5 shot advantage. Sophomore Reagan Riley made two first-half saves to make it 7-2-0.
